MusicMesse 2013 update

Well, back from Musicmesse at Frankfurt. A great show, lots of new gear to see and new technologies appearing (how guys can come up with better gear all the time never ceases to amaze me, but it’s true, only five years ago or so the stuff that’s commonplace now was found only in the most high-end gear).
It took me the whole four days just to go through the guitar, accessories and amp manufacturers. We met old friends, new suppliers and got to meet all the people in charge of these companies – even Jason How, James How’s son (of Rotosound fame) was there at the Rotosound booth. What a nice chap.
The quality of the Chinese guitars and other gear is as good as any you’ll find, we couldn’t fault it, and the value for money is simply amazing. Prices have crept up a little over the past few years, but that’s mostly due to currency fluctuations (US$ v €) and the cost of oil these days driving up the transportation costs. This applies to everything though, not just the Chinese factories.
Here at Freya Guitars we are committed to offering the best value possible, and we have sourced some new products at the Fair. Look for these in the coming months.
Some people we spoke to felt that the show was down in numbers this year, both in visitors and exhibitors, and indeed a few exhibitors weren’t there, the most notable manufacturer missing being Warwick………who of course are German……strange indeed. On Saturday there were so many visitors you literally could not move, and the volume in the guitar halls (mostly Hall 4) was such that the exhibitors were wearing hearing protectors………
Now we have to go to work here and plan a few new lines for the coming year……..anybody got any suggestions for models they’d like to see in our lineup?
