Bone Nut 42mm for Fender-style Elec Guitars

6.95

Description

Bone Nut  for Fender Stratocaster & Telecaster style guitars

  • 42mm x 3.4mm x 6.0mm pre-slotted bone nut, flat bottom
  • High quality
  • String slots are nicely cut, eliminating a lot of unnecessary slot filing
  • Compatible with many USA, MIM & imported Fender-style guitars
  • Made from bone, not plastic, for best tone.

Need to replace that broken or worn nut on your guitar? Improve the intonation in addition to the playability of your guitar. Over time the nut will wear on your guitar and affect the playability as well the “feel”, and equally important, it will cause your guitar to play out of tune.

These will fit most Fender-style electric guitars.

Acoustic or Gibson style bone nuts also available.

More info:

Do I need a flat bottom or curved bottom nut?

  • Most, if not all Fender Squire, and other Strat and Tele style guitars made oversees (China, Indonesia, etc.) use flat bottom nuts.
  • In most cases, Fender’s made in the US and Mexico use curved bottom nuts ranging from 7.25” to 12” radius.

Do I need 42mm or 43mm?

That could depend on your guitar or your preference. Many prefer a 43mm nut over 42 regardless, because 43mm sometimes gives slightly wider string spacing, and/or the opportunity to sand the ends of the nut to precise width of the neck…or not. For an exact replacement, it’s best to measure your present nut or go with what is spec’d by your guitar manufacturer (see Fender website for example). Many Fender, Squire, and other Fender style guitars specify a 42mm nut. Some spec 43mm. The difference between 42mm and 43mm is very slight (42mm is approximately 1.65” or 1 5/8”— 43mm is approximately 1.69” or 1 11/16”). Important to keep in mind too, that sometimes manufacture specifications can differ slightly from what is actually on the guitar.

Please note: All nuts require custom fitting and the correct tools to set the correct nut slot depth, which will vary according to your particular guitar. We recommend you have this fitted to your guitar by a qualified person with the correct tools and knowledge.

Pre-shaped nuts are not generally drop-in replacements. In most cases some sanding or shimming may be necessary to fit the width and height of your guitar slot properly, as well as setting the correct string height. If you need to lower the overall height or adjust the bottom contour, we recommend using a suitably qualified repair person.
